Ch3 14
Glad to see Hasera has her priorities straight! Greatest Champion in the nine planes gets eaten by a giant wurm? Don’t try and save him or anything, just try and think of an excuse as to why it’s no your fault (When it clearly is). I mean, honestly, she’d be great at “Aye, Dark Overlord”, but in this situation – I think perhaps worry about the death of the person you’re specifically sworn to keep alive would be far more important than trying the shirk the blame.
Well, if you think he’s already dead, then it makes sense for the self-preservation instinct to kick in before the rescue instinct. ‘Course, Lark is going to burst out of that wurm any second now, right? Right?
Sigh… Yep, that’s it right there.
Best/worst part is? Lark is probably going to look BORED when within a minute of getting out of that thing… because he’s cursed and does this all-the-time!
Well, bored unless Hasera revs him up (yet?) again.
Let’s see, where else have I seen the monster swallow one of the pair then break out, killing the monster (with or without the assistance of the partner)? MIB (without)? Jasper Fforde’s Shades of Grey[1] (with)? Pinocchio? It’s an icky way to off a beast but very effective. I’ll bet Lark’s done it before, likely more than once.
[1] In that situation, Jane deliberately gets Eddie eaten by the carnivorous tree/plant then cuts him out of it to show Eddie she loves him. Jane’s a strange one. Ain’t love grand?
Aye Dark Overlord, it was the wurms fault your plan didn’t go as written. I hear that gave is fun. Your fault yes, and perhaps questions about this curse once you freeze that wurm with your icy mace.
Well, yes, but you know what Hass. They’d be okay with that.
Most likely…
Worm is about to have major stomach ache…
Link will emerge needing new clothes, and a deep bath….
Hasera will find that, due to large quantities of smelly ex-worm among other things, administering that bath will not be near as much fun as her dreams on the subject have led her to hope. [Not that she had any such dreams, at least that she will admit to…]
If Lark dies isn’t Hasera supposed to die as well?
Someone’s been paying attention! To be clear: The death of one causes significant pain to the other that can be so severe as to cause death. It depends on the individual and their respective pain thresholds, not to mention to what level their binding intensity was.
but i thought the link thing was purely a empathetic link, as in they share emotional and/or mental input only. i didn’t know they shared physical sensations as well. if that’s the case then it’s no small wonder that Larks guardians don’t last very long if he’s in half as much danger as it seems on a day to day basis.
while really funny, isn’t she hugely crushing on him?
Less so now she’s met him and found out he’s a jerk!
a. Yes they will
b. That was way too easy
Ah, the deliberately letting yourself get chomped so you can punch your way out of the guys face dramatically eh Lark? I like your style.
