Ch3 15
And here enters the TRUE hero of our comic: Frostbloom. (Yes, Hasera named her giant mace of magical ice. There’s an entire side story that goes with that.) That being said, do we have any bets on how many pages until Lark shows back up? We all know it’s going to happen. He /is/ on the banner, after all.
Also, it would be a shame to lose that man meat display.
TWIST! Lark’s presence on the main page has been a red herring all along. In a dozen or so more updates, Hass will proceed to subdue the Abyssal wurm in the manner of subduing dragons in early editions of D&D. Lark will then be removed from the banner, and the story will proceed to the adventures of Hass and her abyssal wurm. And occasional bouts of Hass beating the wurm in order to keep it in its place.
The Lark is going to punch his way out of the monster’s belly before Hasera gets her chance to swing that popsicle.
I’d say max two pages if you prolong Haseras “part of the battle” on the next page.
I’m gonna predict he bursts out just as she swings, so she ends up clobbering him.
That would certainly be consistent with a claim of “cursed to experience eternal peril” –I actually like the sound of that, because to experience eternal peril one must first live eternally. And it wouldn’t be a boring eternity, either!
Perhaps someday the author will provide some background about the origin of that curse (if it is actually a curse and not a figment of Lark’s imagination).
“Eternal peril”? Contradiction in terms. By nature, “peril” would have a chance of ending one’s life. Immortality (of the sort that nothing can kill) has no real peril, just threat of pain.
I suppose, looking at the definition, the “injury” part might still apply, but that’s kind of weak. I’m thinking Lark is just resilient & lucky (& maybe good at his job) enough to survive almost anything thrown at him.
You go, girl!! Time to show the chauvinist that you can do battle too.
So she’s a melee mage…………
This has some interesting possibilities…
If the author is going to very-nearly admit it outright (in the description below the current comic), then I might as well say that, last comic, I began to suspect that by the time the story ends, Hasera will qualify as “My Hero” to Lark. The title is pretty generic, after all! (Plus, her title of “Defender” is generic, too!) I might be wrong about the outcome, of course, but even if I’m right, I still want to see how it happens. Thank you for your efforts, to enrich our lives!
I will bet on the generic, that Lark shows up shortly, tho the details are unsure. However, the unlikely idea would be that Lark is lunch. Our girl kills the beastie, and then, terrified about possible punishment for letting the #1 hero die, on her first day yet, she decides to fake being Lark. it has been said that she has some magical skills [very inferior in the case of healing magic], and so she is able to disguise herself as Lark. Thereafter the story would center on her doing a very inadequate job of pretending to be Lark, but somehow getting away with it.
Hey guys, just wanna say I’m loving seeing all these theories of what is to come for our Guardian and Champion duo =)
I might point out that if Hasera is as competent at ice-magic as this comic implies, then she could possibly slay monsters just by giving them severe frostbite.
The comic has implied she has an ‘ice thing’, as per Lu’s original statement way back when, as well as the hints of ice in the explosions and icing Lark’s feet without the need for the Gods’ assistance. This is just a long winded sentence specifically designed to go from one train of thought to another so that you forget what you originally said and no one is the wiser about the strength of Hasera’s ice-magic. So the answer to your question is obviously: 42
I didn’t ask a question, and folks could just re-read my comment above. Anyway, to whatever extent magicians have to deal with the Law of Conservation of Energy, ice magic equals extracting heat from one place and putting it somewhere else. That second thing has not been portrayed in the comic so far (energy can be destroyed? Now there’s a question!)…. It might be more difficult to cause a large volume of air to liquefy and rain upon a monster, than the ease by which something like that could be described. (Not to mention there is often a 1000:1 volume shrinkage when an average gas is liquefied –quite a breeze could rush toward the place where liquid air is forming to fall upon a monster!)
Wait, they can?! What kind of sorcery is this!?
You can’t heal, but you can summon the magical ice smack down. I agree the previous she is going to come swinging, Lark is somehow going to clobbered and then he is going to find out his Guardian can’t heal the backside of an adhesive medical strip properly.
I like this idea… *Changes script* I mean, I was already planning this… c.c
Not to nit pick but it looks like she summons it with right hand, pulls out with right hand, then for dramatic pose holds it left handed?is she a lefty or a righty btw 😂
That. Mace. Is. Awesome!
