Ch3 20
Always remember: Never let extreme property damage get in the way of your victory dance.
Alli and I are currently on vacation. As such, there will only be one page today and next week. After which, we plan on returning to two updates a week.
Did it flatten the entire building?
And here I thought the worm would retaliate a last time before it falls. I suck at predicting stuff.
It is possible that the wyrm actually fell over because of internal damage caused by Lark working his way out, and Hasera could be claiming more credit for the victory than she actually earned.
More importantly, what IS a guradian?
Typo alert. Guardian is surely misspelled in panel one, unless she slurs her words during her victory dance.
fixed!
In the comic where Lark delivered the letter, there was an implication that the wyrm was a kind of guardian against trespassers. It is possible that the home-owner deserved this result, due to selecting a too-unfriendly method of deterrence. However, if the home-owner was able to control that wyrm, then that means the home-owner could be a more powerful foe than the wyrm –and now we can assume the home-owner is upset at both the wyrm-slaying and the property damage….
Here’s a little slightly-relevant something from the original “Conan the Barbarian” movie, featuring Arnold.

So, about that surprise regarding Hasera not doing a victory dance?
If you’re not leaving a trail of massive collateral damage in your wake, you’re not heroing right.
Yeah… the guardian who just caused another bill that will need some extra jobs to pay off.
The vicious circle cannot be broken!
Is this the equivalent of “who’s yer Daddy?”
So is Lark dead and this is actually about Hasera pretending to be the titular hero and getting paid for all the jobs?
The best victory dances ADD to the property damage!
“FIRST pillage, THEN destroy!”
Wonderful show. Now, Has, I believe you have a corpse to dig through.
What do you expect when you have a giant death worm as your guard dog? You gotta expect something’s gonna get broken.
Hopefully, Hasera doesn’t forget to loot/harvest the body. One never knows what’s valuable.
She doesn’t have too much empathy for Lark – her ex-love and ex-charge. I wonder if this is an effect of stress, or a mark of personality.
Don’t celebrate til it’s definitely stopped twitching.
