Ch4 06
If only Hass’ imagination wasn’t so feverishly coming up with story hooks form the Chronicles of Lark, she might have realized exactly what Lark is doing. However, for our poor romantic, she’s as blind to the utter heartlessness of Lark’s actions.
Perhaps the classic phrase “love ’em and leave ’em” somehow might be relevant here….
No, it’s much worse. It’s…. his creditor.
More likely it’s fathers. Or ladies who want to be the only one.
possible typo in the last panel: “the dragon from occulus peek”, if referring to a mountaintop, should be “the dragon from occulus peak”.
On the other hand, it may be some sort of pun. Occulus suggests something eye related, and can be defined as a circular opening; it is also a type of video headset. Hence, something you “peek” through.
I understood that, which is why I specified “possible” typo. If I had been more certain it was an actual typo, I’d have phrased that comment differently.
Ya it’s a typo, I’ll fix it tonight when I get home 🙂
Sorry to be an ass, but it appears to still read “peek”
Dragon swingers? Kinky! But then, according to most legends, dragons live a really long time, so I suppose you might something to spice things up after a while.
There is a very short list of ‘immortal’ creatures in Alteria. Unclaimed, Succubus(Succubi?) and Dragons are the only ageless beings. The one thing all of these creatures share is that they were chosen by the Gods. There is only one Succubus (The Queen of the Abyssals, who killed all the others of Jer’Zail’s Harem) and she is rather difficult to kill with all that essence draining she does.
After the death of Quel’Lan and the subsequent, violent collapse of the Ninth plane, almost all Dragons were killed. The Order knows of only two Dragons that survived, but the public is sure there are more. (The two Dragons being the pair that the Order have been trying to have procreate for years now, but to no avail).
Unclaimed are ageless mostly because they are directly infused/connected to their Goddess’ essence (Cindrani). Though Cindrani’s essence does drain from the Unclaimed, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few thousand years, depending on the individual. When that essence drains the Unclaimed generally devolves into an essence-feeding monstrosity that The Order is often times contracted to dispatch. For this reason, a lot of people are very wary around Unclaimed during the day, as they cannot see the Essence signature of Cindrani in the light of the Occulus.
Interesting. I’m curious now if the “to no avail” is because the dragons in question have a “not if you were literally the only candidate in existence!” relationship, or because they have been trying but have been failing to conceive.
Also curious why the Order is concerned with the survival of the dragon race.
The Dragons are the last of Quel’Lan’s brood. It’s like saying: The Last Neutrals in existence, or, in our case, humans. It’s a humanitarian effort… Or so they’d have you believe.
And that “so they’d have you believe” is part of what I was curious about. Pure draconitarianism could well be the reason, and is certainly likely to be the public reason, but is it the real reason?
Totes.
Well…. if judging from the silhouette in the window, I’d say it’s Baron VonSpork, come to exact revenge upon lark for using non-spork utensils in his territory… lol.
Sporkman crossover confirmed!
