Ch4 12
I know you all missed Lu’s beautiful visage, so we brought it back. You’re welcome. At least Veraz tried to use logic and empathy to get Hass to understand. Not that I expect someone like her to understand, what with the whole ‘stick up the butt’ thing.
I can’t tell how that last panel is toned… the dialogue I mean. Gonna have to be frustrated until I forget this page until next page goes up now. Can’t know for sure until then (presuming it’s clarified/revealed).
I’m also a bit confused. Based on the author’s note, it sounds like Has is still upset about it. I’m also intrigued by Lark’s facial expression. It looks like he’s having an epiphany, and I can’t tell if it’s women- or Has-specific. I’m excited to find out in the next page
Pretty sure it’s Hass relenting on the browbeating because she would do anything to see her friend if she could only see her once a year. The “You could have just told me!” is her getting the last word in, indicating it’s still his fault for not communicating better what their goal for this trip was and implying she would have been understanding if he had told her all the details. Which is easy to say after the fact – who knows how she actually would’ve reacted if he had told her that before they left.
Exactly how I read it too. And yeah, given how Lark seems to find the exact words to say to piss Hasera off, I doubt she would have been that graceful even though the basic gist was the same as Veraz’s message.
Which might be exactly why Veraz stepped in – because she saw exactly that potentiality.
Pffft! Please! Are you saying Lark has absolutely no tact, diplomacy or social grace?! The nerve, I say!
It’s almost like the Champions are not given training on how to non-aggressively deal with threats! I mean, I know there was a short period of time where The Order did try to have Champions diplomatically settle affairs by trying to speak calmly to the monsters in order to resolve the conflict with as little violence as possible. That phase ended quickly.
Ah women relating to women, and the last word. Had he opened his mouth she would have been nag, nag, nag, but it came from a woman so suddenly understandable. At some point you need to include gossiping women that sound like chickens because that is all I would here when women in my family got together to gossip. On another note I stumble upon OoMe and I actually very much liked the drawing style been drawing the wind elemental character all day.
Wait… Veraz is a woman? Darn… I thought Veraz was just a really skinny guy or something. DX
Also: You must’ve had really bad experiences with women for you to assume that women only listen to women. But I suppose it’s reasonable. If a woman had bad experiences with men, she’d assume that men only listen to men, too.
Actually the women relating women and last word, is actually several people I knew personally without throwing around names. The biggest offender, her boyfriend (my actually friend, and I witnessed this happen) could tell her something and she would flip out, and get all uppity. Example: I want to go fishing with the guys this weekend if you are going to hang out with your friends. She flips out, over it. Another women, her friend, a stranger, an acquaintance even it was someone he knew. Told her the exact same thing and said why it was only fair suddenly it was oh…well that makes sense because you are women you understand. My guy friend thankfully after nine months ended that disaster of a relationship
Oh wow. What an unreasonable woman. But to offer a fair point: Maybe the woman was saying “the exact same thing”, but with terms/words that would sound much more reasonable to a fellow woman? It’s very hard to explain, but sometimes you can try saying the “exact same thing” and have it sound different than what you actually mean.
But I do have to say that if that woman really DID just listen to her because “she’s a fellow woman”, then that woman is totally sexist. And I’m happy to note that it isn’t the case for ALL women. In this case though… Maybe the woman also had trust issues? Maybe that woman also had bad experiences with men before? Hard to tell. At this point, I’m just trying to make smart guesses.
Oh I agree with I was just trying to relate in the previous post that this seemed like that experience. I did a poor job communicating that, I know not all women are like that I should of tied it into that experience. I don’t know what was wrong with her.
Let’s not forget that Lark also claimed it was ‘Important Champion Business’ he had to attend. He mentioned nothing about who, what or where. He just pretty much roped poor Hass into following him to a bush party and didn’t tell her this was his ‘once a year’ ritual. Had he been upfront about it, maybe Hass wouldn’t have been so vexed with him.
It’s almost like he has trust issues, or something…
And, technically, he didn’t lie. He’s a champion, and it’s important to him, so it’s “important champion business”. And if his friends are also champions, that makes it even more the case.
With Hass, though, I could see that being a risk from Lark’s perspective. If he was upfront, Hass might have accepted that it was a once-a-year thing… or she might have insisted that he stop wasting his time and pick up another job instead. With what Lark’s seen of Hass thus far, I could see him assuming the latter. A spot of deception means that he does actually get to his party, even if he has an angry Guardian to deal with once he’s there.
Plus, the likelihood of her lasting a week are pretty slim, if anything of Lark’s record is to be believed.
And therefore, dealing with her anger is a temporary state of affairs, lasting only until her inevitable grisly demise, and therefore not worth missing his party for? Makes a certain twisted kind of sense.
Now you’re on the Lark trolley!
Just wondering did i miss an announcement or did we just miss a few updates
I think the creators said they have a lot of stuff going on right now, so from now to the end of the year they’ll be updating once a week on Mondays. This week, I think they said on Twitter their household was sick, so no page until this coming Monday.
