Ch4 25
I contemplated having Hasera go on for four pages or so, describing The Lark and his amazing feats, but I figured that it would have been superfluous. If this were a theatre attraction, or more like Galavant, she would have broken into song about him as the Abyssals would have constantly chimed in things like “nope”, “Not ringin’ andy bells, luv” and “I think I’ve heard that one, wait no, that was a dream”. Ah well. Maybe when Hollywood options this as their next saviour flick, we can strong-arm in a musical number or two… So long as the entire song track isn’t done by Phil Collins.
Looks like it is time for some forced regurgitation. At least magic isn’t required for that!
Hrrrmn.
Wyrm’s bile.
As in… ABYSSAL wyrm?
Like the one whose stomach he burrowed out of not too long ago?
Granted, you don’t normally have bile in the stomach, but I’m holding to my theory of “he’s actually just passed out drunk.” π
Sorry if I missed a less overt way of reporting these…
typo in the final speech bubble: “… can survive a dose…”
That first panel is EPIC. it deserves some memes. And a big moustache.
“Greatest hero of all time”
“Taken out by booze”
Lar: “I get up to help!
DM: Roll your ‘wake up score’
Lark: *Rolls* One!
DM: You snore louder.
Hass: FFS.
That reminds me a lot of our RPs! Glad I took the ‘Able drinker’ advantage.
What is the meaning of neutral here? Is this some D&D term?
Neutral is the term for humans in the world of Alteria
Typo in the last panel, survive is misspelled. Gyffes pointed it out but it hasn’t been fixed yet so i’m hoping more people pointing it out will prompt immediate action.
lol. Hard to fix while at work π
It means that Sazzy will be the first to ‘get it’, right?
Oh. My. God. I had never even thought of that nickname for Sazael… It’s perfect.
Gotta give her credit, even though she’s based her view on pure bullshit, she’s not afraid to stand on it and fight. Pretty fearless, if you ask me, though “fearless” and “ignorant/stupid” are sometimes synonymous.
The defining factor is whether or not you walked away from said act that could be considered fearless/stupid, right? ;D
As my friend the airplane pilot says: anything you can walk away from is a good landing.
I hope your friend the airline pilot also considers the ability of the passengers to walk away in judging a good landing. π
Pffft. That’s THEIR problem! π
I’d say that intent can be a factor. If you go in fully aware that it’s probably suicide, but that in the process you have a chance of achieving a goal that’s worth dying for, then I think it’s reasonable to call it fearless. The distinction is one of whether the act was done because the person wasn’t thinking about the danger, or whether they knew the danger but made a rational decision to do it anyway.
Pretty sure that Hass wasn’t thinking when she made her outburst.
She does not do that whole ‘think before you leap’ thing. I’m sure this won’t cause any problems for her in the future.
Based on various things mentioned early in the story, while still at the Academy, I think Hasera is fairly knowledgeable about Abyssals. Their god is the god of strength, and therefore Abyssals respect strength. When one is short on strength, bravado can sometimes work –but in this comic Hasera is certainly mentioning an aspect of Lark’s strength, so not necessarily bravado. Besides, she knows what she can do to them with magic (already knocked one of them a significant distance after smashing through a wall).
Obviously he never read the Silver Story, where Lark had to save the Elven princess by having a Wyrm’s Bile drinking contest against three trolls
Clearly he did not!
It’s entirely possible that these demons killed the champions and the guardians to stop them from wiping out a whole village of infernal men, women and children, which they were planning on doing after the meet-up. And the demons are therefore the real heroes. Unlikely but possible π
You can tell he’s impressive because he’s The Lark. Not just Lark.
