Ch4 26
I don’t think anyone is surprised to see our resident hero waking up from his drunken stupor. The real question now is: What’s going to happen. Personally, I think they’re all going to act like civilized folk, sit down and discuss their problems over a cup of tea and a nice batch of warm muffins while discussing their differences and in the end, they’ll feel all love and happi – It’ll be a shit show.
Took him long enough.😵
Double the hangover, double the fun ! 😀
WHAT A SURPRISE!
Sorry for the Caps, in hindsight it came over a bit aggressive.
Now I’m curious to see how this world’s biggest champion handles two assassins.
Maybe Lark’s curse is such that he doesn’t actually need a Guardian, and the Council simply hasn’t figured that out yet (so they keep assigning Guardians to him, despite the losses).
Cursed with awesome? Blessed with suck? There’s gotta be an old-school heroic trope in there somewhere. 😜
I think they just need someone to follow him around and do the insurance paperwork really.
That’s been pretty much my theory since the abyssal wurm incident. He’s invulnerable to most things, but wherever he goes there’s danger.
A somewhat wilder speculation is that Lark is carrying around the essence of Que’Lan.
You mean the Goddess who was killed by her siblings in the Godwar? The Goddess whose death caused the other Gods to agree not to interfere directly on the planes of Alteria? The Goddess whose entire plane exploded, thereby killing anything and anyone that existed in the magical ninth plane and sub sequentially only left an abyss upon her death? You mean her, right?
Maybe.
Aye-yup. I would imagine that unknowingly carrying around the essence of a missing, presumed dead deity would be something that could make someone difficult to kill by normal means.
Or spontaneously explode. But since Lark hasn’t exploded, it seems reasonable to presume that he’s not going to. Doesn’t mean it’s completely off the table, though.
It would also provide a number of possible explanations for Lark’s apparent tendency to attract danger.
And everyone knows there haven’t been unprovoked explosions throughout the story or anything >_> <_< >_>
So Lark is invulnerable and Hasera has some kind of awesome, yet off-limits (I think), magic. I liked her for the special secret-deity person, but now I’m not sure
The thought did strike me that they might BOTH be carrying parts of Que-Lan. And there might be others floating around – probably only in dragons and Neutrals, though.
Sazzy stil hasn’t warned Bael about Hasera’s powers. He seems to have kinda forgotten himself actually.
For that matter, Hasera seems to have forgetten too.
But what comes next? Well, the demons might run while the getting is good, but they probably think Link is easy meat while “hung over”, and stick around long enough to find out different. [They might survive that mistake. There seems to be some “evil plot” they can tell us about.] Has may well take major part in the battle, but will not be noticed by Link, who will credit her with curing him from poison [while saying she should have been faster and have taken care of the hang over too].
A more speculative idea is that Has will be able to “cure” the poisoned [by pretending to be curing, while Link unknowingly does the actual curing while he acts as Has’ assistant.] This does threaten the given theme of the two not fitting together well, but elimination of 6 good guys, even redshirts, seems a bit too serious.
part of post got lost. Add that Hasera seems to have forgotten her abilities since “she has acted the helpless maiden the part few pages. Of course this may be due to tactical surprise.”
On the bright side, Hass is still alive.
“It’ll be a shit show.”
Heh! That’s usually the best kind of show…
I have a general question. Is Lark a first name? Or a last name? Or is it a (word I forget right now having to do with a name earned and symbolic)? Lots of people call him “The Lark” like it’s some kind of title. Hassera has a last name, and so does her old roommate Lu. Makes me wonder…
I like where your head is at
A “given” name can be an earned name. Also, in Latin, an “agnomen” can be either an earned name or a nickname.
Fight Hass! You got this! 😀
