Ch4 30
Abyssals like to talk while they fight. Sazael, however, likes to taunt while he fights. It’s all part of his stratagem. I think it may be working rather well on Hasera.
Due to some stress happening at Alli’s work, we’ll be going down to weekly updates. Once the workload has returned to its normal flow, we’ll be coming back to two updates a week. Not sure when that will be, but we’ll be doing our best to at least get one page up for you fine folks!
If you’d like to chat about the world, the characters or even let Alli know you’ve got her back, why not check out our discord channel?
It is on like Donkey Kong! 😎
Hass is looking a bit worn out there. Of course it’s not like she really got to sleep long after that nice trek from town.
I think it is a reaction to getting kicked in the solar plexus. You’d probably want a bit of recovery time, too, if it happened to you.
Hard to bring your “A” game when you’re already exhausted, this is true.
A solid piece of ice that size would be tough for anyone to swing. I’d be gassed for certain.
Come on Hass.. wipe that smirk off his face!
And then wipe his face off of your mace 😛
How ’bout a Mac to the face!
Can she not “ice make” something lighter and faster, like a pair of butterfly knives or a rapier?
That morgenstern, while VERY powerful, is insanely slow and she’s already tired.
If she doesn’t adapt quickly, she’s going to lose….
Unless her ice is magically reinforced, it might need to be something big and solid to be suitable as a weapon – something light might be too easily shattered.
That’s why you cut or stab, not bash
Ice-katana! It’s the perfect thing! 😎
The head of that morningstar is bigger than hers. Something smaller, say twice the size of her fist should be fine.
The mace is a construct of magic. It could have all sorts of bizarre properties that ordinary materials don’t have. Maybe it is as easy for Hasera to wave about as if it was a short stick. Maybe it packs the punch of a wrecking ball, when it actually hits something. Until we readers know more about the allowings and limits of magic in this realm, we need to think that literally anything might be possible.
I wonder why her mace is so over sized. Probably just because it looks cool. Makes sense.
Next frame is going to be Lark grabbing the abyssal’s head and snapping his neck like a twig. I’m guessing Hasera is generating a mace because that’s what she’s trained on and is the most familiar with. I get the feeling it’s an instinctual thing. I’m also wondering how fast it takes to generate the mace, theoretically she could drop it in order to move more freely, start an attack, generate the weapon, and finish the attack with said weapon.
Or, if she can ‘extend’ it
Saz is standing, in what he believes to be ‘just outside her range’, next thing, she’s ‘grown’ the handle and the head has replaced his on his shoulders 😛
There’s a very simple reason why Hasera generates Frostbloom. It will be addressed In the next chapter. We have seen Hasera modify Frostbloom into an ice spike to huck into the Abyssal wurm’s maw, so there’s always that possibility.
For those that haven’t caught on – the white flowers in Frostbloom are ACTUALLY flowers, they are not ice. This will also be explained in the next chapter. Lousy Delvers and their knowledge.
She’s a cleric, so yeah, mace.
