Ch6 02
Well, I guess that answers some question and raises a whole bunch more! Remember, if you have any world-based questions, do not hesitate to ask. I’ll throw them into the Knowledge base.
Our youngest just turned four on the weekend. Time goes by too fast, man. Too bloody fast.
Nothing like giving Hass nightmares for fun times. Guess she knows better than to try touching them now.
I mean, some people just get really enthusiastic about blowing out candles.
Oh, the danger happened during the cake’s creation. No one truly knows what ever happened to the birthday cake itself
just noticed on a re-read. last panel typo for collapsed. it’s typed collapased
Ah! Many thanks. We’ll fix that up tonight
Did she accidentally borrow all of the sugar instead of just a cup?
She only changed the gravitational constant of Alteria so that she could make a spherical cake so that there was no argument on who gets the ‘corner’ pieces.
Hasera is now suitably impressed (and horrified). 😵
Well she is now regretting her decision it would seem. Lets see how far down the rabbit hole you fall Has, and how many pianos and random furniture you find hit on the way down.
Ah, yes, a simple little thing like that.
The good ol’ Q method of problem solving.
Hey, if it works on Star Trek…
Aye, the age old GM adage. If it be cool, steal it.
Is it night time or is this a realm with minimal atmosphere?
How’s that for a question.
That’s an excellent question, actually. As the Void (9th Plane) was obliterated upon the death of Quel’Lan, the atmosphere that supported life was destroyed.
The Occulus no longer rotates around Alteria in the Void, but rather, stays stationary while it goes through its day and night phases.
This means that there is a night and day cycle, but without the atmosphere around Alteria, the star-filled sky is always visible, no matter the time.
In order to survive in the Void for any prolonged period of time, one must have (a) magical ward(s) that provides either a shielded bubble in which air, gravity and other requirements for survival are adhered to.
Without this bubble, a normal person would be able to survive until their lungs ran out of air, at which point they would asphyxiate.
Heat is still a thing in the Void, but without the atmosphere-creating apparatus, it would constantly feel like -20 degrees Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit). So, without proper clothing or a spell, if one had an oxygen sources, one would still eventually freeze if left to the hostile environment.
The Order of the Nine is the only truly established and well known location left in the Void. With many campuses all linked through conduit travel, or via constructed bridge platforms.
Anyone not magically inclined who wishes to travel between planes are required to use The Order as their hub. This prevents unwanted travel between planes. As diplomatic relations between various Planes are tenuous at best, each would prefer to offload the job of watching each of their multiple conduit access points to a neutral party (For a fee, of course).
As is suggested, a normal, non-magic wielding mortal is incapable of accessing the Void unless by sheer accident of stepping into a somehow active Conduit or someone else’s magic has gone horribly awry and they’ve found themselves floating in the void for the last few potential minutes of their lives.
Those who are magically inclined do not often decide to live in the Void for it has many dangers.
While the real estate is cheap, it takes a lot of effort to continually manage wards and a small fortune to purchase the required devices from The Order if you are incapable of creating your own.
The paperwork required in order to purchase a ward from The Order is also quite detailed and focused on figuring out where in the Void you are planning to live (For security reasons, of course).
Those magically inclined who do set up their houses, businesses or getaways in the Void without the assistance of The Order often find themselves completely undisturbed, safe for a few Void beasts floating about.
These mages, sorcerers/sorceresses or Guardians can plot, scheme or otherwise live in solitude to their heart’s content without interruption of lesser beings.
Of course, in order to even think of living in the Void in secrecy, you’d better be able to travel without Conduits or else your voyages will soon be discovered by The Order and your quiet little haven will be under investigation.
Then there’s a lot of paperwork that you need to fill out and, of course, a hefty fine.
